Fishing was shut down this past week with all of the rain this week. Hopefully the weather gets a bit drier so we can get back on the river. The forecast doesn’t look very promising, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

One thing true about Steelhead fishing in Southern Oregon, you have plenty of choices of where to fish when the weather changes. On Tuesday night the rains came again, and the rivers started rise and color up. Fishing on the Umpqua was a bit slow due to the changing water conditions, but still a few fish were being caught. With more rain in the forecast, we decided to fish the Rogue River out of Medford. Not getting nearly the amount of rain the north received, the Rogue was in great shape. On Thursday under sunny skies, going eight for eleven on “Steelies” averaging 8 lbs. made for a fantastic days. The rest of the week provided good action on the Rogue as the season starts to hit its peak.
